What I’m Reading – February

I am hoping to share what I am reading each month (as long as the book is good). This month I have been reading, “Forgiving What You Can’t Forget” by Lysa Terkeurst.

This isn’t one of those books you read for fun. This is a book you read because you are dealing with hurt that needs to be forgiven. Forgiveness is such a complicated concept. In childhood we learn that if someone does something wrong, they need to apologize and the person affected by the wrong needs to forgive. In adulthood however, things are that cut and dry. The wrongs and hurt is bigger, deeper and cause more damage. Some people aren’t even sorry when they cause someone pain. It is much harder to forgive and even if we say we forgive we deal with doubts and triggers that make us wonder if we really did forgive the person who hurt us.

Lysa takes us through her journey of hurt and forgiveness. She talks about it honestly and if you have ever been deeply hurt by someone there is a good chance you will be able to relate to her story. Not only does Lysa let you know that you are not alone in your pain, struggle and doubt but she explains the process of forgiveness that she has walked through. Her perspectives and personal story really helped me in my own journey to forgive.

If you have been hurt by someone and are trying to forgive and move forward I highly recommend this book.
